ECHOES OF EMPTINESS

A world that sees her smiling grace,
She hides the tears she can’t erase.

A smiling mask, a masquerade so well played,
Hides the void within, where emotions fade.

Emotionally hollow, she bears the weight,
Behind that mask, her heart’s true state.

She laughs and plays her part so well,
But inside, restrained by a lonely, silent spell.

Incidents have etched her triviality deep,
The scars of the past in her memories she keeps.

A moment’s attention, she holds so dear,
In that fleeting light, she finds some cheer.

She tells herself, “I’m not alone,”
But the fear of judgment chills her bone.

All that’s left are her fake smiles, you see,
A heavy weight on her heart, a silent plea.

Invisible wounds, like cracks in the glass,
Each smile conceals a fragmented past.

Despite being in a room full of heads,
It’s always her bright emptiness that spreads.

In this world, we all wear a guise,
But together, we can realize-
Emptiness shared, we’re not alone,
Through solace, we do find a home.

“Behind a smile is a hurting heart,
Behind a laugh, we’re falling apart,
Behind our eyes is a tear at night.”
