Imagine you entered your classroom on the morning of a normal weekday.

Your best friend comes up to you and says, “What’s up, dude? You look sad today.”

You’re surprised at this remark. You haven’t been sad or happy lately; it was how you normally looked.

You tell him you’re fine and take a seat. Even before the classes begin, many people come up to you and ask what’s wrong. You keep telling them you’re okay.

You finally decide to go to the washroom and check. Looking in the mirror, you see nothing but a blank, inscrutable face. You tell yourself it’s all right and return to your classroom.

Before the lunch break, a few more come up to you to console you. To ask why you’re looking depressed. But your answer remains the same — “I’m fine!”

Within a few hours, the negativity starts getting into you. You believe you’re depressed, even when you’re not. You feel downcast and your day is ruined.

This is how quickly negativity sets in.

Instead, when you see someone in their typical mood, tell them, “Damn, you look happy today!”

In reality, they might not be happy or might even be low-spirited, but beginning someone’s day on a positive note makes them happy. Ask them what so special happened a couple more times, and they will be on cloud 9.

POSITIVITY AND HAPPINESS

One feels low when they are told they look sad and dull, even if that isn’t the case. But the same person feels happy when they are told they look bright.

Happiness is a choice, which needs to be captivated whenever a chance is seen.

“Say something positive, and you’ll see something positive.”
